    Flowers for Odizo 🕊️ A Pillar of 805 Hip-Hop

The 805 lost a real one.

Odizo — legendary hip-hop advocate, local show promoter, and tireless supporter of independent artists — has passed. His presence shaped rooms, built stages, and gave countless artists their first real shot at being heard.

This week, I attended Odizo’s celebration of life, and it was exactly what you’d expect from someone who lived for the culture: love in the air, stories on repeat, music doing the talking.

    Odizo wasn’t chasing clout.
    He was building community.

    He showed up.
    He booked the shows.
He believed in artists before the algorithms did.

If you ever performed on a small stage that felt bigger than it should have…
If you ever got a chance because someone took a risk on you…
There’s a good chance Odizo was part of that story.

We owe it to him to keep the culture moving forward.

    Rest in power, Odizo.
You will be missed — and remembered. 🕊️
